Activities of the Group

Derby and South Derbyshire Group of the Ramblers' Association has around 550 members. Many people join to support the work of the RA rather than to walk with a group.

  • We survey footpaths, report on obstructions, work to maintain access

We also provide walks led by volunteer leaders. See  Walking with our group for further information.

  • Sunday - these walks are normally between 8 and 17 miles, we often meet at Darley Park Drive Car Park, unless specified in the programme, we then drive out in Derbyshire, Staffordshire or even Cheshire.

  • Saturday - usually a shorter walk or half day walk, up to 8 to 10 miles

  • Wednesday - these are walks of 8 to 10 miles maximum, usually starting at 10.30

  • Summer Evening Walks - evening walks of around 4 miles, usually in South Derbyshire starting at 7pm
